The Day of Salvation and Liberation - 2015

On June 9 and 10, 2015, during the celebration of the new date in the Jewish religious calendar – the Day of Salvation and Liberation, Torah scrolls were brought into several synagogues in Israel. The ceremonies were dedicated to the memory of the millions who died in World War II. The events timed to coincide with the introduction of the scrolls were attended by numerous guests, among whom were deputies, rabbis, public figures, diplomats from Israel, Azerbaijan and Russia. All speakers noted the importance and necessity of introducing the new date into the Jewish calendar, as well as its significance for the Jewish people. Isai Zakharyyaev, on behalf of the President of the STMEGI Foundation, German Zakharyaev, thanked all those present, and above all those who were the first to support the initiative of 26 Iyar: Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, Rabbi David Lau, Rabbi Pinchas Goldshmidt and Rabbi Chaim Kanevski.
